Biography
Rebecca Romijn-Stamos comes off as perhaps the most intelligent and level headed of the Supermodels, and it is quite possibly for this very reason that she seems to have enjoyed the most success of any of her peers outside of the business. In fact, her comments about modeling are quite harsh, in fact during an online chat she went as far as to say 'I'd have to say that, in general, models take themselves too seriously. Basically, they are genetic freaks who spend a couple of hours in hair and makeup.' She also is staunchly opposed to the very young models getting sent off alone into the business saying 'In my opinion, nobody should be allowed to model until they are 18. I've seen too many 14 and 15-year-olds who have dropped out of high school, live in Paris, go out all night with dirty, old, rich men who give them drugs and treat them like 30-year-olds.' She also appears to be grateful to have branched out into film, commenting 'Luckily, I'm doing other things besides just modeling, because frankly, I'm a little bored with it.' And if you are looking for Rebecca nude, you won't see it, as she says 'Yes. I've been asked to pose nude, but I never have, and I probably never will.' When you see comments like these, it's no wonder her best friend within the modeling business is Tyra Banks, another Supermodel who has branched out outside of modeling and also is intelligent and ambitious, in a field where too many are aloof and leading wild, unhealthy lifestyles.
Rebecca Romijn (pronounced row-main, like the lettuce) was born in Berkeley, California and had planned a musical career as she was majoring in music at University of California Santa Cruz when a Parisian modeling scout discovered her and signed her up with a San Francisco modeling agency. She quickly set off to Paris to walk the runway and jump quickly up the modeling ladder. Then, in 1996 all hell broke loose for Rebecca as she became on of People Magazine's 50 Most Beautiful people, a contract with Victoria's Secret, extensive presence in the 1996 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, and most importantly to her she met the love of her life on the set of Full House, John Stamos. The two instantly clicked and were married on September 19, 1998. While Rebecca's career appears to be soaring, her husband's is seemingly headed in the opposite direction, and when Movieline's Stephen Rebello said as such in their Sex issue, she reportedly was so upset that she refused to attend the party in support of the issue. It's little wonder either, after Rebello made these comments: 'How did this superdish, who could easily marry her way into useful, powerful echelons of Hollywood,' end up marrying the guy who played Blackie Parrish on General Hospital for two years and Uncle Jesse on the now-defunct TV sitcom Full House?'
Rebecca has made a decent name for herself in acting following up on her huge success modeling in 1996. She made her acting debut on the set of Friends in 1997, where she played a filthy disgusting girlfriend of Ross (David Schwimmer). She followed up in 1998 with getting the House of Style baton passed to her from the likes of Cindy Crawford and Daisy Fuentes, previous hosts of the show. She also had a brief appearance in the Norm MacDonald comedy Dirty Work (which incidentally was directed by Bob Saget, Stamos' former partner in Full House). Her momentum continued in 1999 with a 4 episode role as Adrienne in the NBC comedy Just Shoot Me, where she played the on-screen love interest of David Spade. That same year she played as herself in the Mike Dyer's hit Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me in addition to her role as Kimberly Hefner TV drama Hefner: Unauthorized. This year though embarks her first major role in what most definitely will be a big budget box office smash, X-Men, in which she plays Raven Darkholme. The film also stars stunner (and hit and run driver!) Halle Berry as well as Patrick Stewart.
Rebecca genuinely seems to have a strong affection for her husband John and has said at some point she'd like to explore the field of motherhood as well as all the other projects that keep her busy. Apparently her interests also include a ear fetish as well, as she says 'When my husband kisses my ears. My ears turn me on like nothing else, they must be my most erogenous zone. Just having my ears kneaded is like a full body massage.' Among those who seem infatuated with hitting her erogenous zone besides her hubby are Conan O'Brien, who went gaga during a recent interview on his show, as well as fellow Supermodel Frederique, who said Rebecca as well as Heidi Klum were the two models she'd most like to get naked with. One interesting sidebar on Rebecca's Miller Lite commercials, she admitted that 'Unfortunately, I don't know anything about football.' during an online chat despite the fact her commercial's character claims to be an expert... Good Lord, that would have been too perfect, wouldn't it?
