Melissa Joan Hart was born on April 18, 1976 in Sayville, New York. Melissa shot her first national TV commercial when she was four years old, she's been working non-stop since then. Besides dozens of national commercials and voice-overs, Melissa has appeared in the NBC TV-movie Christmas Show, guested on The Equalizer, The Luci Arnaz Show, Saturday Night Live and Another World. She also starred in the ABC Weekend Special The Adventures of Con Sawyer and Hucklemary Finn. Of course, her biggest TV venture has been Nickelodeon's Clarissa Explains it All, which took a break from the air in the fall of 1994. However, Clarissa will reappear on a major TV network in 1995; this time she will be taking some college courses and working on a New York City newspaper. Melissa has also done theater and appeared in the off-Broadway play Beside Herself with actor William Hurt; she appeared on Broadway in The Crucible. Melissa continues to write an advice column for the popular teen magazine
